This Report focuses on the social action activities of Africa Mission United Kingdom, Region 1 (AMUK1) Chapter for 2022 period. The objective was to give hope, joy and laughter to the brethren and families in Congo during the Christmas and New year.

As part of our efforts towards achieving the dream and vision of our Mother-In-Israel, Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye (Mummy G.O) for Africa Mission Global, we are working together with the pastors in Congo to assist the Chapter in identifying the specific areas of need. The projects are being funded from donations received from donors within the chapter.

Report on Project

The Africa Mission UK Region 1 (AMUK1) was created as a new chapter in September 2021. The adopted Nations in our auspices are Congo and Namibia. In the first few months after the Chapter was created, efforts were made to contact the country pastors, but only the Pastor in Namibia responded. So, our support has been restricted to Namibia.  The outcome of the several meetings held with the Namibian Pastor was to provide assistance to meet immediate needs of the brethren.

Our first social action expression was to deliver Christmas Lunch packs to about Seventy Families, individuals and brethren who could not afford to celebrate Christmas.

Impact Assessment

The sum of £3,000 was spent on the Christmas project. Items and size were varied depending on each family and parish, but generally ranged from maize, mill flour, rice, baking flour, sugar, soups, Chicken packs, fish, toiletries, etc.

“To the glory of God, a lot of families in our parishes and community benefited from the financial support and the Christmas project during the festive period” (Pastor Paulus Hafeni, Country Pastor).

Please find below the list of Parishes who coordinated and were blessed by the kind gesture:

a.    Green Pasture Parish

b.    Victory House Parish

c.    Abundant Life Parish

d.    House of Prayer

e.    New Life Assembly

f.      Glory Tabernacle

Testimonies/ Impact on people: According to the country Coordinator, “we concluded that we could buy food items and give to them as Christmas gifts. Food is quite expensive in Namibia and it is always great when people receive food.” Following the above conclusion, our objective was to make brethren and families in need happy by making Christmas worth the celebration. The brethren testified as below:

We thank God for the fellowship and the ‘swallowship’. It was a great time of Love and joy! We shared food, drinks, dance and songs. Thank you, Father.” RCCG Prayer Parish, Oshikati. Namibia,

Impact on the Church/Community: The parishes in Namibia were blessed as the support enabled both social and evangelical impact in their communities. Below is the appreciation remark from RCCG Namibia:

We the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Namibia would like to whole heartedly appreciate the Africa Mission Organisation for extending their hand of Love to the people of God during this difficult time globally.

The Christmas Package of approximately N$54,000 was shared among our 6 Parishes, based on the parishes’ sizes. And in total, about 70 families benefited from this hand of Love. The brethren are truly encouraged and strengthened and we pray that the almighty God bless Africa mission."

Yours in his Service,

Paulus Hafeni Nashidengo

Challenges

It is pertinent to restate that the AMUK Region 1 is a new chapter; therefore, we are still developing our need-finder processes, social and financial support systems as well as implementation and reporting structures to enable us to effectively make maximum impacts in our operations in Namibia and Congo.

In Namibia, it is taking longer than expected for the Pastors to provide a list of projects that will improve the lives of the brethren and community.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to reach out to the Country Pastor in Congo despite all efforts to contact him. Your assistance in this regard would be appreciated.

Sustainability Plan

The Christmas project made a lot of impact, as a result, we hope to continue to sustain the AMUK1’s support and social action initiatives to both Namibia and Congo in subsequent years. Going forward, the Christmas Lunch packs would be done annually and extended to the wider communities.

Future Plans & Risk Assessment

a.    Immediate Provisions: The Chapter’s primary focus is to provide short-term support to the less privileged who are in dire social circumstances and in need of urgent care.

b.    Sustenance: However, we also have medium-term plan with a maximum of 3-6 month turn-arounds. Thus, AMUK1 is poised to consider providing formidable and sustainable supports for brethren in order to not just alleviate, but halt poverty totally.

c.    Capacity Building & Employability: In the future, we would also look at providing financial support for individuals who wish to start smaller business but are struggling with the startup capitals. In addition, the plan also includes providing the opportunity for brethren who may wish to train or acquire apprenticeship to enable them to become employable or start a business of their choice, for example Tailoring, Baking, Gardening, etc.

d.    SME Expansion: Similarly, our plan is to offer varied supports to brethren who run smaller businesses by providing additional stock, equipment and up-skilling opportunities. The objective is to enable them to sustain and expand their smaller businesses such that will support their family’s material needs.

e.    Risk Assessment: These are capital-intensive projects and as a result, the actualisation may be slow due to financial constraints. The impact may not be immediately felt since individuals need adequate time to complete their trainings or apprenticeships before they find employment or setup their own business.

Exit Plans

We have a strong commitment to continue to improve the lives of our brethren and families in Namibia and Congo. Therefore, our plan is to routinely evaluate the progress of the business ventures we are supporting and follow up with additional support as may be required. For those who complete their trainings and acquired skills in specific trades, the AMUK7 chapter would endeavour to help them start up their own business and make their dreams come through.

Appreciation

We thank Daddy and Mummy G.O for giving us the opportunity to serve in this capacity. We also appreciate our AMUK1 leaders, Pastor Leke and Pastor (Mrs.) Bola Sanusi for their authentic leadership. We lavishly thank all the able Pastors who swiftly and adequately provided financial and spiritual support for the brethren and families in Namibia.

Every blessing,

Pastor Bola Sanusi

Coordinator, AMUK1
